Monday Mail 13.10.2008

Alright now,

That was an eventful week right there! However, one can’t really say a normal week at HSE and KY are too boring either ;) Check it out.

Thank you for the International Week

Thanks you for everybody who participated in Helsinki International Week events, including seminars, III-Kierros, Aliensitsit and Sillis! This week, Wednesday 15th of October, our male choir KYL is having a nice concert called “Syysillan hämärtyessä” at Valkoinen Sali. Check out other events at http://english.kyweb.org.

Apply for the HEKO scholarship

HEKO (Helsingin Ekonomit ry) is granting three scholarships worth 1000€ for students at HSE. The criteria you will be judged on are success in studies (print and attach your study record from weboodi) and activeness at different networks (you are a member of clubs etc.) Also send in your CV to complete the application and remember to mention any past scholarships you were granted.

Send your freestyle applications with attachments by 31.10 by mail to Helsingin Ekonomit ry, Ratavartijankatu 2, 00520 Helsinki. Write on the envelope “Stipendi 2008) These applications will not be returned. They will be processed on 18.11. after which the lucky three will be notified personally so remember to include your phone number and/or email address.

Get your overalls - last chance

Still without your dollar green favourite suit? This is your last chance! Those who have ordered an overall but have not collected it yet, come to Alakertsi on Tuesday 14.10. at 17.30-17.50. to get yours!

Cultural Trip to St.Petersburg

The annual fabulous Opera-trip to St.Petersburg is approaching on 13.-16.11. to bring some light into this fall. Ticket sales are on next Wednesday 15.10 at HSE Main Lobby. Sales begin at 9 am but doors are opened already at 7 am. Past experience has proven that early birds catch the worms so if you really want to go, get there as early as possible! The KY Queuing rules are valid here (I’ll explain the rules a bit further on) and you should take along your passport and money for the trip. Take along 175€, your passporty and an extra passport picture for the visa. The price includes transportation, visa, staying at the hodel, tours, balet tickets and a Russian dinner.

Queuing rules

Tickets generally are sold at a pre-announced location. The first one to arrive opens the list by putting their name there. After that, each person adds their name in the order of arrival. Everyone there has the right to hold a roll call at any point and if you or you’re substitute are not there when you’re called, the roll caller has the right to remove your name from the list and replace it with theirs! So be there, be there early and stay there!
